Tram Stop Stories

Next time you’re at a tram stop, look around.

No matter how full the tram stop is, it’s largely silent. People swipe at their phones, glancing up occasionally at the information screen to see if the minutes have changed, or looking hopefully along the road for the glimpse of a tram. They listen to music. They cocoon themselves from the world.

There are hundreds of tram stops in Melbourne, each with a simple function: to get people where they want to go. But beyond its fundamentally transient nature, each tram stop is the stage for thousands of stories every day.

Tram Stop Stories is a celebration of the human drama played out on these stages. As an artist and writer combo, we’ve blended the visual with the verbal; combining found materials and objects with found words to create an interactive installation that reveals how people in the city are unknowingly telling their stories every day.

Exhibition runs from 16 May to 7 June 2018. (FREE of course)

Visit the exhibition at Library at the Dock in Melbourne (107 Victoria Harbour Promenade, Docklands VIC 3008).
